As I noted above, expectation damages are qualified by, amongst other factors, the foreseeability of those damages. Cases from Hadley v. Baxendale to the present limit damages to amounts that would fairly and reasonably be considered to arise naturally from the breach (an objective standard) or which may reasonably have been in the contemplation of the parties themselves (a subjective standard).
