What is the standard of care a lawyer in Canada must meet?

Manitoba, Canada

The following excerpt is from Loeppky et al. v. Taylor McCaffrey LLP et al., 2021 MBQB 208 (CanLII):

The Duboff defendants’ position is solicitors owe a duty of reasonable means, not one of perfect result. The standard of care to which all lawyers in Canada are held requires them to act in accordance with that of a reasonably competent, diligent, and prudent solicitor in the same circumstances. (Salomon v. Matte-Thomson, 2019 SCC 14, [2019] 1 S.C.R. 729 at para. 54 (“Salomon”))
