The fact that the respondent did not expect payment is not determinative of the issue. In most domestic relationships, one party does not have an expectation that the other party will pay for the services provided. The provision of domestic services can support an unjust enrichment claim: Peter v. Beblow, 1993 CanLII 126 (SCC), [1993] 1 S.C.R. 980 at 989-95, cited in Kerr at para. 42.
