Does the term "excited utterance" in the context of hearsay rule exceptions?

"New York", United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Brown, 517 N.E.2d 515, 522 N.Y.S.2d 837, 70 N.Y.2d 513 (N.Y. 1987):

3 This court also noted in People v. Edwards, 47 N.Y.2d 493, 496, n. 1, 419 N.Y.S.2d 45, 392 N.E.2d 1229 that the term "excited utterance" was more accurately descriptive of the exception to the hearsay rule at issue and, accordingly, we adopted that nomenclature in our opinion.
