Does the introduction of evidence at trial affect a defendant's right to due process?

MultiRegion, United States of America

The following excerpt is from Villalobos v. Hernandez, CASE NO. 09cv00363-L (MDD) (S.D. Cal. 2012):

If evidence is relevant to a fact of consequence, it is unlikely that a defendant's right to due process is violated by the introduction of that evidence at trial. See Estelle v. McGuire, 502 U.S. 62, 68 (1991). When conducting habeas review, federal courts are limited to deciding whether a conviction violated the Constitution, law or treaties of the United States; it is not their province to re-examine a state court determination on state law questions.
