While California law requires corroboration of accomplice testimony, federal law does not. See Laboa v. Calderon, 224 F.3d 972, 979 (9th Cir. 2000). "[I]t is not the province of a federal habeas court to reexamine state court determinations on state law questions." Estelle, 502 U.S. at 67-68. Federal habeas review of a state court's finding is limited to determining whether the finding was "so arbitrary or capricious as to constitute an independent due process . . . violation." Lewis v. Jeffers, 497 U.S. 764, 780 (1990).
