Does the California Family Law Court have jurisdiction to charge a defendant with a charge of failing to pay child support pursuant to a superior court order?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Lindemann, 11 Cal.Rptr.2d 886, 8 Cal.App.4th Supp. 7 (Cal. Super. 1992):

The appellate court in Lyons v. Municipal Court, supra, 75 Cal.App.3d 829, 142 Cal.Rptr. 449, rejected an analogous argument to the one we discuss here regarding the family law court's misdemeanor jurisdiction. There, a father failed to pay child support pursuant to a superior court order in a divorce proceeding. He was charged in municipal court with, and convicted of, failing to provide child support in violation of section 270, a misdemeanor.
