Does an appellant have a duty to provide an adequate record on appeal?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from Huntosh v. Laney-Herdt, D072788 (Cal. App. 2018):

7. "[Appellant] had a duty to provide this court with an adequate record on appeal." (In re Marriage of Wilcox (2004) 124 Cal.App.4th 492, 498.) Failure to do so is an independent basis to dismiss an appeal. (Ibid.; see also Denham v. Superior Court (1970) 2 Cal.3d 557, 564 [" 'A judgment or order of the lower court is presumed correct. All intendments and presumptions are indulged to support it on matters as to which the record is silent, and error must be affirmatively shown.' "].)
