The following excerpt is from People v. Ward, E067377 (Cal. App. 2017):
2. We note that "a guilty plea constitutes an admission of every element of the offense charged and constitutes a conclusive admission of guilt." (People v. Turner (1985) 171 Cal.App.3d 116, 125.) In other words, "a plea of guilty waives any right to raise questions regarding the evidence, including its sufficiency or admissibility." (Ibid.) Since defendant entered a plea of no contest and acknowledged his understanding that the court would treat it as a guilty plea, any claims concerning the elements of the charges and the sufficiency of the evidence are not cognizable.
