Does a jury have to re-examine the testimony of a police officer who witnessed defendant enter the crosswalk against a solid red hand signal?

California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Randall, E064965 (Cal. App. 2017):

officer did testify, several times, that he saw defendant enter the crosswalk against a solid red hand signal. It is the jury, not this court, that resolves conflicts in the evidence. (People v. Solomon, supra, 49 Cal.4th at p. 818.) The jury here obviously resolved the conflicts in the officer's testimony in favor of his reports that he did witness defendant enter the crosswalk illegally. We do not reevaluate the jury's determination of the facts adduced at trial. Thus, sufficient evidence was adduced to support the officer's detention of defendant based on a reasonable suspicion that defendant had violated the law.
