Does a plaintiff have to prove that he suffered an impairment of earning capacity?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Lane v Ou, 2019 BCSC 928 (CanLII):

The position of the defendants was that the plaintiff has not met the burden to prove that he had suffered an impairment of earning capacity. Counsel notes that the continuing presence of symptoms alone is not sufficient to establish an impairment in earning prospects, citing Kostecki v. Li, 2014 BCSC 1056 at paras. 108-11.
