In Regina v. Schumacher, [1997] O.J. No. 4697 (S.C.J.) (Q.L.) at para.78, Watt J. held that time spent in jail “as a result of the offence” would not include incarceration in the United States serving a sentence as a result of conviction and sentencing in that jurisdiction.
