The objective in assessing an award for loss of income and earning capacity is to restore the plaintiff to the position that they would have been in if not for the injuries caused by the defendant: Lines v. W & D Logging Co. Ltd., 2009 BCCA 106 at para. 185, 306 D.L.R. (4th) 1; and Falati v. Smith, 2010 BCSC 465 at para. 38, aff’d 2011 BCCA 45.
