In Cook v. Cook, 2021 BCCA 19 [Cook], Justice Wilcock held that a financial disparity because of an inheritance, or other excluded property, does not give rise to unfairness justifying an unequal division of family property. He also confirmed that a financial advantage, or disadvantage, unrelated to the economic characteristics of a spousal relationship is not a relevant consideration.
