What is the standard of care of a contractor?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from Edwards v Parkinson’s Heating Ltd., 2018 BCSC 593 (CanLII):

I accept that the standard of care of a contractor is a general one and may not require expert opinion evidence respecting the standard of care on certain aspects of his or her work where the nature of the negligence is patent and obvious, see, for example: Burbank v. R.T.B., 2007 BCCA 215 at para. 72.
