Compensatory support is intended to redress one spouse’s economic disadvantages arising from the end of marriage or the conferral of economic advantages on the other spouse (Chutter v. Chutter, 2008 BCCA 507 , 301 D.L.R. 297 at para. 50, leave to appeal ref’d [2009] 1 S.C.R, [2009] S.C.C.A. No. 41).
