In considering child support for adult children pursuing post-secondary studies, one must bear this in mind. It is not intended to be a windfall for the children of parents who are separated, or to the parent who may receive the support for the child. The purpose of the provisions is to mitigate against disadvantage. As pointed out at paragraph 7 in Geran v. Geran, 2011 SKCA 55; “The object of these child support provisions...is to ensure so far as reasonably possible that children of the marriage are not disadvantaged in consequence of the separation and divorce of their parents. ...
