California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from People v. Mejia, 129 Cal.Rptr. 192, 57 Cal.App.3d 574 (Cal. App. 1976):

Elkins v. United States, 364 U.S. 206, 80 S.Ct. 1437, 4 L.Ed.2d 1669, held that the product of a Wrongful search (of a communications medium) by state authorities could not be used in a federal prosecution, since the constitutional proscription against unreasonable searches had been held to extend to state action.
