California, United States of America

The following excerpt is from Tietge v. Western Province of the Servites, Inc., 55 Cal.App.4th 382, 64 Cal.Rptr.2d 53 (Cal. App. 1997):

In Snyder v. Boy Scouts of America, Inc. (1988) 205 Cal.App.3d 1318, 253 Cal.Rptr. 156, the plaintiff sought recovery from the Boy Scouts alleging the organization failed to take proper precautions to guard against the sexual abuse perpetrated on him by his scout leader. Snyder instituted the suit more than one year after his 18th birthday and the trial court found it time barred. (Id. at pp. 1321-1322, 253 Cal.Rptr. 156.)
