The following excerpt is from People v. Williams, 192 Cal.Rptr.3d 266, 355 P.3d 444, 61 Cal.4th 1244 (Cal. 2015):
of the cause to the jury, ... be admonished by the court that it is their duty not to ... converse among themselves, or with anyone else, on any subject connected with the trial, or to form or express any opinion about the case until the cause is finally submitted to them. ( 1122, subd. (b).) Those admonitions were given as required. A juror's violation of these directions constitutes serious misconduct. (People v. Majors (1998) 18 Cal.4th 385, 423, 75 Cal.Rptr.2d 684, 956 P.2d 1137.)
