What is the range of damages awarded by a jury in a motor vehicle accident?

British Columbia, Canada

The following excerpt is from O’Connell v. Yung, 2010 BCSC 1764 (CanLII):

The plaintiff in Boyd v. Harris, 2004 BCCA 146, suffered a spinal cord injury that left him with constant pain in his neck and shoulder, super sensitivity in his hands and difficulty walking. He was able to live independently. A jury award at the upper limit was upheld on appeal on the basis that there was evidence before the jury that reasonably supported their view of the plaintiff’s situation.
