Can a properly worded guarantee reserve the right to continue the claim against the remaining co-guarantors when one or more is released?

Alberta, Canada

The following excerpt is from Koska (Bankrupt), 2000 ABQB 953 (CanLII):

However, it does note that a properly worded guarantee can reserve the right to continue the claim against the remaining co-guarantors when one or more is released. See Bauer v. Bank of Montreal ( 1980) 1980 CanLII 12 (SCC), 110 D.L.R. (3d) 424 ( S.C.C.) It argues that each of the guarantees signed in this case bore wording which had that effect.
