The facts of the Alexander v. Rayson case were these: The plaintiff leased to the defendant a flat at a rental of £1,200 a year which was to cover certain services. The plaintiff sent to the defendant two documents: a lease, which provided for certain services at a rent of £450 a year and an agreement which, too, provided for certain services — at £750 a year. The services called for by the lease and the agreement were practically the same except for one small item. The defendant signed both documents.
