What is the difference between access to the natural mother and the court's view on the best interests of the child principle?

Ontario, Canada

The following excerpt is from Greber v. Moskowitz, 1982 CanLII 74 (ON CJ):

[30] I find this case and the case at the bar can be distinguished in that as we are not dealing with access to the natural mother and, in Ader v. McLaughlin, the court found, on the facts, that the right of the child to have contacts with her natural mother carried more weight when applying the “best interests of the child principle” than the risk of disturbance.
