If the time period in a limitation statute is enlarged after a cause of action has already been extinguished by the statute previously in force, the enlarging statute should not be accorded retrospective effect: Martin v. Perrie, 1986 CanLII 73 (SCC), [1986] 1 S.C.R. 41.
