Similarly, before an order is made for a deponent to be cross-examined on their affidavit, the applicant must demonstrate that the cross-examination will serve a useful purpose in eliciting evidence that would assist in determining the issue before the court: 2538520 Ontario Limited v. Eastern Platinum Limited, 2019 BCSC 570 at paras. 18–20.
