Alexsei is a Canada based Legal AI startup that provides answers to complex legal questions. We are a team of software engineers and lawyers working hard to achieve our long-term mission of making the law more accessible; that is, easier to understand more quickly and affordably.
We are building a Complex Question Answer System (CQAS) specifically for the legal domain, a core component of which involves development of our next-gen search technology. We are looking for a search engineer to work directly with our CTO.
This role is within Alexsei’s Core-AI Search Team and is a great opportunity for a search engineer to work on a product with real impact. More importantly expand their horizons from traditional e-commerce search. Learn the ropes while helping build a next-gen natural language question answer system.

Responsibilities
  • Experience with Solr and Lucene.
  • Should have working experience on text documents, and Solr features such as Filters, Query Parsers and their customization, Dynamic Fields, Performance Tuning, Faceted Search, Grouping, Distributed Searches, Lucene internals, Solr Cloud & Zookeeper.
  • Hands on experience in Solr implementations, Design, Architecture, Performance & Scalability.
  • Leverage Solr to prototype and demonstrate new ideas.

Key Skills: Solr, Lucene, Java, Python, Search, NLP basics.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2-4 years of working with Solr development and/or search technology.
  • Bachelor’s Degree/Diploma in Computer Science or Information Retrieval or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in Information Retrieval.
